Does anyone have any experience with writing software? I don’t mean Scrivener or tools like that, more Grammarly or ProWritingAid. I’ve been using the latter although it does point out how often I use the passive voice and those repeated phrases…blimey, how often can someone sigh or shake their head! It’s all a learning experience and valuable techniques to acquire, of course.
One of the techniques all writers are taught is to keep usage of adverbs to a minimum and beef up your verbs instead. So, totally ignoring that advice, I seem to have littered my manuscript of Legacy of the Father with those pesky blighters. A new draft, devoted entirely to stronger verbs, has cut over 3,000 words. Seriously, how many ‘-ly’ words can you have?
I’m currently looking at the pros and cons of using Word or something more dedicated like Scrivener (https://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivener.php). I’ve used Scrivener in the past but tend to drift back to Word due to familiarity. Any writers out there with any comments?
